Where can I find upstream information about the bugs mentioned in the "Badblocks controversy"? I'd like to know the details of the specific issues, when these issues appeared, and hopefully when they get patched. Unfortunately I couldn't find information beyond this article, so some links would be super helpful. Thanks! -- Andrew Engelbrecht (talk) 01:07, 26 September 2018 (UTC)

Unfortunately, there's not much to go on, apart from chit-chat on the list. However, the author of badblocks (Neil Brown) has confirmed that it's almost certainly pretty buggy, and several well-known people on the list will recommend disabling it as a knee-jerk reaction. My own personal experience of following the list is that there have been repeated issues that just "feel wrong". Wol

[edit] Reference information for the bugs

Where can I find upstream information about the bugs mentioned in the "Badblocks controversy"? I'd like to know the details of the specific issues, when these issues appeared, and hopefully when they get patched. Unfortunately I couldn't find information beyond this article, so some links would be super helpful. Thanks! -- Andrew Engelbrecht (talk) 01:07, 26 September 2018 (UTC)
